With the concept of “courting”, synonym of praise and admiration, the composer Chano Montes has dedicated this piece to Andalusia and its people. Andalusian Courting is a chain of tender phrases expressed in a simple and vehement melodic line, like the people that inspired it, passionate and generous. The introduction describes an Andalusian landscape at dawn. As the poetic textç expresses in the version for voice and piano, it describes the valleys as a sea of vines and song, its waters a turquoise blue, land of poets like a jewel of wheat fields and orange blossom, muses and music….and mother of so many peoples that sing of it in their verse. In 2009, Salvador Brotons wrote the version for orchestra and it was premiered with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (WA).
