This edition of Antoni Botey y Badia’s Trio in A Minor for Violin, Cello, and Piano is based on the manuscript held in the archives of Orfeó Badaloní. This century-old organization, founded by a group of musicians from Badalona led by Antoni Botey, received the manuscript from the Botey family in 1974.
The manuscript includes the dedication “To my beloved Maestro E. Morera.” It consists of three movements: ” Moderat enèrgic” (a term that only appears in the handwritten violin part), dated February 8, 1918; “Andante,” dated March 4, 1918; and finally, “Alegre,” which is undated.
The Trio in A Minor by Antoni Botey y Badia for violin, cello, and piano was first performed on May 20, 1918, during an intimate concert at the Escuela Municipal de Música de Barcelona, which was then located in the Castle of the Three Dragons in Ciutadella Park.
