Rush was first a piano solo in its early stages. As the melodic lines developed and the parts became more complicated it slowly became a duet between two lines. The violin and piano were the perfect voices to play the lines together because of each voice’s unique timbre. The word rush is in the title but I encourage the player to take their time and really enjoy the slower sections of the piece to give the quick passages more life and contrast. (Joseph House)
