With the original title of Solo de Trombón con Acompañamiento de Piano (Trombone Solo with Piano Accompaniment), the trombone part was recovered in the historical archive of the Library of the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid (hereinafter, RCSMM). The score is dated 1892 and the following inscription appears on the cover: “Solo de trombón con acompañamiento de piano por M. C. G. Dedicado a mi amigo J. Valderrama” (Trombone solo with piano accompaniment by M. C. G., dedicated to my friend J. Valderrama.”

It is not known with certainty in which year the score was written. Although earlier references have been found, it was in 1892, when this transcription presented here was made, and which was possibly used in the trombone competition of that same year, as well as in the Ejercicio Lírico-Dramático (Lyric-Dramatic Exercise) held on May 8, 1892. However, since Miguel Carreras died in 1878, we will date the original score to that year until other evidence appears.

In a previous work we attributed the authorship of the work to Miguel Carreras y González. Unfortunately, the recovered part appeared devoid of its original piano accompaniment. For this reason, we have the accompaniment written ad hoc by the author of these lines.
