I composed Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum in memory of the Jesuit priest Roberto Hurtado, who died in 2005. My organ studies are inseparable from the instrument found in the Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in Valencia, which Father Hurtado used to visit from his attached tesidence o check student progress.
I had the opportunity to premiere it myself in March 2006 as part of the Lenten organ concert cycle that year. The timbre is, of course, designed for the organ that inspired it, but it can be perfectly adapted to another registration.
