These two short pieces were composed and dedicated to the performers who premiered them out of my respect, admiration, and friendship with them.

Both pieces play around the essential idea of breathing, not only referring to wind instruments such as the flute, of course, but also to life. Whereas Breath unfolds in a rather meditative and continuous way, Gasp is more abruptly interrupted and slightly more unsettled.
