Piccolo Uccello for E♭ clarinet solo

Piccolo Uccello for E♭ clarinet solo (Little bird) is a composition created out of the need to expand the repertoire of the instrument and to redefine its role within the musical context. The work focuses on its specific sound and articulation, presenting a wide range of playing techniques and highlighting the potential of the piccolo clarinet.

The starting point was an inspiration drawn from birdsong, where freedom and flexibility of phrasing coexist with precision, shaping the musical narrative. The structure develops through rhythmically varied, contrasting motives, as well as through gradual changes in the intensity of expression, offering the performer a wide range of interpretative possibilities. The piece makes use of contemporary techniques such as microtones, multiphonics, glissandi and slap tongue, expanding the expressive means of the instrument. Particular attention should be given to exploring a varied sound color, evoking the richness of tones and shades found in nature.

Utwór koncentruje się na specyfice brzmieniowej i artykulacyjnej, ukazując szerokie spektrum środków wykonawczych oraz potencjał klarnetu piccolo.

Punktem wyjścia była inspiracja śpiewem ptaków, gdzie swoboda i elastyczność frazy współistnieje z precyzją, kształtując przebieg narracji muzycznej. Struktura utworu rozwija się poprzez zróżnicowane rytmicznie, kontrastujące motywy, a także poprzez stopniowanie i zmienność intensywności ekspresji, co daje grającemu szerokie możliwości interpretacyjne. W warstwie wykonawczej wykorzystane zostały współczesne techniki, takie jak mikrotony, multifony, glissanda czy slap tongue, poszerzając środki wyrazowe instrumentu. Szczególna uwaga wykonawcy powinna być skierowana na poszukiwanie zróżnicowanej kolorystyki dźwięku, przywołującej bogactwo barw i odcieni obecnych w naturze.
