Tres cançons per a la Júlia (Three songs for Júlia), for soprano and guitar or piano

These three songs are dedicated to one of my twin daughters, the sweet, cheerful, and passionate Júlia. She is studying violin at the Conservatory of Terrassa, which is why the compositions can also be performed with violin and piano instead of guitar and voice.

The idea of writing these three songs arose during an informal conversation with the soprano Júlia Farrés-Llongueres, who mentioned that there was a lack of Catalan repertoire for guitar and voice. With the intention of contributing my small grain of sand, I composed these three pieces. All of them feature a particular characteristic in the guitar tuning: the sixth string must be tuned to C, instead of the usual E. This feature results in harmonies that are somewhat unusual for the classical guitar, especially in the second piece.
