These Tres cançons criolles (Three Criollo Songs) that we present to you today come from the Mediterranean, from the sun and the moon, from a dreamed and fairy-tale world, where reality and fantasy, along with the Hellenistic concept of life, love, and death, are deeply rooted in our Catalonia.

The first one, Non-non per a l’eternitat (Non-non for Eternity), is the song that the goddess Astarte sings to her son, conceived with a human, wishing him immortality and freeing him from pain, old age, and death.

The second one, Cançó d’amor en forma d’havanera (Love Song in Habanera Form), is the idealized representation of two lovers meeting in the Mediterranean, describing the joy of the woman in reuniting with her lover, merging both into one being, and disappearing beneath the waters.

The third one, A la meva mort (To my Death), is dedicated to the dark-skinned sorceress with black eyes, who will come to seek me and demand an account of my passage in this world.

All of this is written in a basically tonal language, with some slight dissonances, very understandable in the 21st century.
