Written in the fall of 1977, when the composer was 18 years old, this piece was originally conceived for three flutes (two C flutes and one alto flute). It was intended to be performed at home by three generations of flutists —grandfather, father, and grandson— the latter being the composer. The work was later adapted for flute, oboe, and clarinet.

As the title suggests, the piece consists of a series of short movements, each with its own independent musical material. The exception lies in the final two sections, Recitatiu and Final, which recall thematic elements from the Introducció and Berceuse, respectively.

The Divertimento and Scherzo have a light, playful character, while the Berceuse —distinguished by its oscillating rhythm in an irregular 7/8 meter— emerges as the most expressive movement and forms the emotional core of the composition.
