Quartettino is a musical composition inspired by the personal sensations perceived on the rainy and fatidic afternoon of Monday November 14th, 2005: the moment when, in the cold corridor of a hospital in Valencia, somebody realizes that the loss of a loved one has become imminent. However unexpected and undesired it is, it is the sad and crude reality. From a technical point of view, the structure is built from a melodic element of tonal root, which threads through the whole work, sometimes developing through imitation, sometimes through the technique of fugue, or through other development methods. Regarding its global structure, the idea of fractioning has been taken into consideration, establishing a kind of battle in the succession of different fragments, each with its own vital pulse, which suggests the rondo form. Written in 2005-2006, the piece was commissioned and it is dedicated to the members of Cuarteto de clarinetes Vert.
