Odyssey Overture is in three sections. The opening is a dark, sinister introduction, featuring extended techniques in the brass section, and a haunting melody and counter melody in the winds and strings. This leads into a faster and lighter section in 5/8 time, showcasing the technical facility of many sections, most notably woodwinds and trumpets. The final section features the original theme, now a soaring melody in the brass. Odyssey Overture leaves the audience free to imagine their own story and imagery to go along with the music.
