This is simply a spontaneous and enjoyable piece built on three openly tonal, diatonic motifs. The first, with a lively tempo, is based on an orthodox counterpoint motif, which, instead of developing as if it were a fugue theme, is full of variety and contrast with clever orchestration. The second one, with a slow tempo, is based on an amorous melody and follows a clearly traditional line. The third one opens with a light motif in pizzicato, charming and playful, which leads to a luminous finish. The music of this piece might not have grand aesthetic ambitions, but it is always fresh and exceptionally elaborated. (Josep Solà)
