Written between September 1974 and June 1975 at the age of 15, the four early pieces are overtly romantic and tonal. They have been kept in a drawer for almost 40 years. I have decided to publish them now, in 2012, only after considerable revision.

I have not fled from the youthful era, but I have added counterpoint, some short extensions and basically several changes in harmonic arrangement.

The four pieces are expressive and direct in spite their contrasting character.

Amorosa (Loving), as indicated by its title, is very passionate with a lot of rubato and expression. Jovial is open and triumphal with a delicate waltz section. Melancòlica (Melancholic) is intimate and peaceful with a Chopin-like touch, and Sentimental has an orchestral character with a catchy theme that evokes the spirit of the first piece.

These pieces were revised in July 2012, with a slight feeling of embarrassment given audacity of publishing such early works, but also with the joy of recovering my first compositions.
