Year of composition
Thirty-nine years is the time it took me to decide to publish my opus 1. It was particularly difficult because these five romantic pieces were my first attempts in the field of composition. They were all written when I was 14 years old, with a totally romantic and tonal style. I have not stopped composing regularly since they were written in December 1973.
The revision of the pieces has been considerable (change of chord disposition, addition of a simple counterpoint, enrichment of harmonies, etc.) but I wanted to keep the innocent spirit of a young composer. I have particularly tried to keep the sound of the works closer to the style of 1974 than of 2012.
The grouping of the five pieces under the current title responds to a careful selection and to date, they have never been premiered. Following the models of the great Romantic composers, Recordant (Remembering) is simple and lyrical, Primaveral (Spring), lively and quick, Tràgica (Tragic), dramatic and intense, Paisatge (Landscape), contemplative and relaxing and Passional (Passionate) exuberant and bright.
