Dedicatòries (Dedicatories)

As its title indicates, each piece has its own and independent thematic material, and it is dedicated to friends and persons who are close to the composer.

Autumnal, dedicated to the American friends Jeannie and Steve Hix, is expressive and melancholic with a flexible harmonic accompaniment.

Nocturn, dedicated to Muriel O. Fowler, is a sweet and possibly the most simplistic piece of the cycle.

Scherzo is dedicated to the friend Delfí Colomé “in memoriam”, also a composer with a great sense of humor. The piece is fast and virtuoso.

Fidelity is dedicated to the memory of the admired friend Lluís M. Xirinacs, humanist and defender of national justice and freedom. The piece includes the melody of the Catalan song El cant de la senyera and acquires moments of high drama.

Contemplative, dedicated to the pianist M. Lluïsa Cantos, resident in Switzerland, is a slow piece of gentle expression.

Itosun is dedicated to the Japanese friend Itosun, a man with nerve, vitality and eternal youth who is a great supporter of the arts and an extraordinary person. The piece is fast, with irregular rhythms and constant metric changes. This piece was composed intermittently between October, 2008 and November, 2009.
