Cantar Xemendo – Cantiga 5 (Sing Moaning – Cantiga 5), for double bass or violoncello

In 2011 I started a series of compositions for different instruments which I named Cantiga. I try to evoke songs from the past from my native land Galicia. They are songs of Galicians; songs of foreigners; they express loneliness, hope, tenderness, love or abandonment… but they are always Songs!

This work is inspired by one of the poems in the book Cantares Gallegos (Castellanos de Castilla) by the Galician writer Rosalía de Castro.
