Trumpet Concerto

30.00

The three movements of the concert can be interpreted as independent pieces and also accompanied by the piano. Thus, just as the Vital Impulse, the Interlude and the Trepak can also be individual concert pieces. The piano part is idiomatically designed for the instrument.

The Concerto for trumpet and orchestra has its origins in a commission by the Duet Mireia Farrés – Mercè Hervada to compose a piece for trumpet and piano to complete an album they recorded in the summer of 2019. Therefore, during May 2019, I wrote the score Vital Impulse. As I was writing it, I already had in my mind the possibility of orchestrating it and maybe adding two movements that were not too long, expanding the piece to make it an orchestra Concerto. It wasn’t until a year later that, taking advantage of the extra time during the global virus confinement, I decided to make that project a reality.

Trumpet and brass in general have always been instruments with which I have felt very identified when composing, for their wide variety of expressive resources: sound power, spectacularity, shocking impact, the mutes, the dynamic contrast, and today, thanks to the advances of the performers, playing the legato e cantabile with a beautiful sound.
