TRIA SUNT MUNERA

Tria sunt munera pretiosa, quae obtulerunt Magi Domino in die ista,

et habent in se divina mysteria:

In auro ostendatur Regis potentia,

in thure Sacerdotem magnum considera,

et in myrrha Dominicam sepulturam.

Three are the precious gifts that the Magi brought to the Lord on this day. And they keep in themselves divine mysteries: In gold the royal power is shown. In the incense the High Priest is considered, and in the myrrh the tomb of the Lord.

The TRIA SUNT MUNERA in this version is the Introitus of Cologne Cathedral – circa 12th century.
