These short pieces arose from two needs: the need to create material for the choirs I conduct to perform, and the need to express my thoughts and feelings in a different manner than usual.
As it can be seen, in two of the three compositions, the text is also my own creation and responds to this desire to put into verse the sensations and emotions that I have experienced over time.
These are short works suited to the length of the poems. Thus, it is the music that adapts to the text, and not the other way round. In a way, the text inspires the music. The harmonies seek a crystalline and unhurried feel, linked to the essence of the poems, aiming for the result to take us into a world of nostalgia and remembrance.
My intention when composing music has never been to become a composer. I consider myself, first and foremost, a musician, followed by a harpist and choir director. I compose all my music with the utmost humility and respect for this craft, which is both beautiful and complex.
I hope these works will be useful to other choirs looking for new and accessible repertoire to perform.
