Homenatge a la tonalitat (Homage to tonality)

18.50

The piece demands a great mastery of the tone possibilities of the instruments since it takes the violin to the limits of its possibilities. It is, as in all of Prohens’works, a piece of extreme contrasts and passion.

Probably, the fragment that is closest to Pep’s writing style is the rhythmic part. It is a fragment in which everything happens very fast, with constant acceleration, and where the rhythm eliminates the melody. I interpret it as an expression of overwhelming feelings and emotions. According to comments by the composer when he was writing the composition, this part is “the result of an attack of rage”. The piece demands a great mastery of the tone possibilities of the instruments since it takes the violin to the limits of its possibilities. It is, as in all of Prohens’works, a piece of extreme contrasts and passion. (Maria Antònia Pons-Estel)
