Enigma is a piece, which ventures deeply into the qualities of sound and it demands great mastery of the clarinet and the piano. Two very contrasting ambiences and sensations are created, which invite the listener to let him/herself be seduced by the pianissimos and be surprised by the rhythmic energy and the big fortissimos. The work was dedicated to the duo Picornell-Jagla, which premiered it in the Buchmesse (book fair) de Frankfurt in 2004. (Tomàs Picornell)
