Concertino was written to honor the legacy of Leonard Falcone and was premiered by one of his students, Roger Behrens, a member of the US Army Band.
The premier took place at Northwestern University with the University Band and Roger Behrens as soloist.
Later, in 1988, the piece was played at the BLFAC Falcone Festival for Euphonium players where it has become a frequent challenge for the euphonium contests that feature cash awards to young euphonium students.
