Composed for solo soprano and mixed choir a cappella, on the traditional liturgical text of Ave Maria, Ave Maria is a short work (3’30 ”approximately), divided into two sections (in which the two strophes of the text are framed), of modal and free diatonism in a polyphony whose texture is, in the phrases of the choir without the soprano soloist, homophonic; while in the phrases in which the soloist intervenes, the texture is of a non-imitative counterpoint that distorts the harmonies of the choir through delays, thus creating small dissonances that accompany the clear melody of the soloist.
