“LITTLE CLARINET HISTORY” takes listeners on a journey through some of the most important works in clarinet literature. The quotations featured range from just a few notes to motifs, half-phrases, or, at most, complete sentences from pieces that have accompanied clarinetists throughout their careers and will continue to do so.

In order of appearance, the piece includes excerpts from Stravinsky, Gershwin, Mozart, Weber, Brahms, Poulenc, Nielsen, Debussy, Copland, and Rossini. It is no coincidence that the first concerto featured is W. A. Mozart’s, and fittingly, the work concludes with the last movement of the same piece.

Little Clarinet History is dedicated to the Quartet de Clarinets Vert, who premiered it on April 28, 2017, at the Conservatorio Mestre Vert in Carcaixent, and performed the version recorded for the CD Esencias 4 Divertsiones, released in 2018.
