Rêves Opus 101, by Isaac Albéniz, is a cycle of three works for solo piano: Berceuse, Scherzino and Chant d’Amour.
In the latter, the “sung” melodic line stands out over an exquisite harmony, and in my opinion, that makes it very attractive and suitable for a melodic instrument such as the violin.
Searching through the repertoire of Catalan music for violin and piano, I was surprised not to find the beautiful Chant d’Amour, and it seemed appropriate to adapt the work for violin and piano. In this way, it can be incorporated into the specific repertoire and can turn out to be one of the works most loved by performers and the public. I think it will also be appreciated by pedagogues for working with students on sound quality and conduction of the melody line.
