This work was commissioned by the pianist Albert Guinovart to prepare a recital that included works by contemporary Catalan composers. The premiere took place on August 18, 1994, at the Cadaqués International Music Festival.
The work is a bi-thematic sonata movement written in a neoclassical style in which the seemingly simple themes are developed in a very pianistic and effective style.
