I started reading the works of William Shakespeare when I was very young. At first I read the old editions of the sixties, which I found in my neighbourhood library when I was twelve. Later on, and with a greater command of the English language, I also decided to read some of his works in the original version. This 18th sonnet, along with the 25th, are surely his most famous poems.
I have conceived the work as a mixture between a lied and a song of a musical. In fact, although I had the voice of the soprano Mariona Pallach in my mind while composing it, the tessitura of the work is sufficiently central to be sung by high and middle-range voices, both masculine and feminine.
