The appearance of Pieza lírica in the archives of the Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Madrid, represents a very representative finding in the trombone repertoire of Spanish composers. If we take into account that the repertoire of the time for this instrument is not very extensive, it is practically non-existent in Spain. The score was written to be performed alternating the rod and piston trombone, and explicitly indicated in the score, something certainly particular, even internationally.
