Composed during the summer of 1998, Nadales catalanes (Catalan Christmas Carols) for orchestra, is a composition based on eight well known Catalan Christmas songs. The Nadales, are presented one after another, freely harmonized and linked through short musical transitions. For the purpose of contrast, tempi, character and tonality, the nadales follow this order: El vint-i-cinc de desembre, El petit vailet, El noi de la mare, El desembre congelat, Sant Josep i la Mare de Déu, A Betlem m´en vull anar, l´Àngel i els pastors and El cant dels ocells.
