Indíbil and Mandoni were the chiefs of the ilergets, a pre-roman people located in the
surroundings of Lleida (Ilerda). These two brothers are known for the decisive role they played in the war against the Romans during the Second Punic War.
The March to the torture, corresponds to the third chant of the poem, Chant III: Indíbil is dead and Mandoni addresses Ilerda as he goes up the steps of the platform that will lead him to his death.
