1. Obertura 2. Pastoral (El rossinyol) 3. Processó (La dama d’Aragó) 4. Scherzo (En Pere Gallerí) i Coda

My Fantasia popular was commissioned by the director of the Orquestra Simfònica de Sant Cugat, Josep Ferré, in 2016. After he suggested that I write a work for symphony orchestra and children’s choir involving Catalan traditional songs, I decided to compose a single movement musical fantasy which would integrate three different tempered melodies: El rossinyol, written as a pastorale, La dama d’Aragó, written as if it were a procession, and En Pere Gallerí, as a scherzo. The Coda combines the three songs in order to achieve a powerful ending. Therefore, this is an extremely festive work, a celebration and a journey through the Catalan popular song book. On 2018 I reviewed the work so that it is a purely orchestral one.
