As the title indicates, the work has two parts that are linked without interruption. The Romança is slow, expressive and of introverted character. The main theme is presented in the bass register under a harmonic web of the clarinets. A small culminating point is reached after a moment of progressive agitation to return to the initial theme played by the euphonium, which is faded out smoothly. Aire de Tango emerged spontaneously, without the desire to write a Tango. Actually, it is not a Tango, because it is written basically in 3/4 with several meter changes. Nevertheless, it has the typical syncopated rhythms, tempo and melodic designs that recall the Tango.
