This is a romantic composition, which employs harmonic resources from one of the most famous preludes by J S Bach.
The harmonic structure of the beginning of the Prelude No. 1 in C minor, BWV 999, by Johann Sebastian Bach, provides the starting point, from which a ternary lied is built, clearly romantic in essence. The clear and lyrical role of the cello plays a decisive role with the natural and fluid continuous accompaniment of the piano.
