While thinking about the four contrasting movements, I found inspiration in the colours of the sky. The agitated mystery of the first movement brings to mind a Cloudy sky. A sky with constant changes and transformations is suggested by the continuous flow of notes of the flute and the glissandi with the harp pedals.
Starry night is a delicate and quiet nocturne dominated by the higher registers. It is a contemplative space where the soft dynamics and subtle ambience stand out.
Blue is the beautiful space, serene and full as a sunny day. Bright and romantic in expression, the instruments maintain a dialogue, with very chromatic harmonies and a pleasant ambience.
Stormy, as the subtitle suggests, is a fast movement with a great virtuoso activity. The rapid, full glissandi of the harp along with the frullati sounds of the flute present a colourful, intense and unstable picture. The changing accents and the unstable rhythm come together to paint a bright and tumultuous space.
