Written during the month of June 1975 at the age of 15, it is a particularly early composition. I was trying to find a harmonic language out of the purely romantic style of previous composition intents. The sudden changes of key signatures and the research of seventh chords without resolution denote a shift to a different aesthetics from functional tonality.

Substantially revised in July 2012 (the first version of the Interlude was never premiered nor published) the addition of “alla russa” reflects the models of Russian composers that I had in mind (Prokofiev, Shostakovitch, etc.).

Following a formal ABA, the first part is lively and powerful while the second is expressive and lyrical. The re-exposition is totally fully modified, and is more like a Coda than a re-exposition.
